The agent asked me if I knew who the beneficiaries were, if the deceased person was married, and if he left a will. After I answered his questions, he informed me he was sending me a package to fill out.
Is this the proper procedure? The reason I am curious because when I informed another life insurance policy of the death, they only wanted to verify my name, address, and ssn. Of course I had to send them an orginal "copy" of the death certificate.
